CAIRO, Dec 28 (NNN-MENA) – Senior officials from Egypt, Jordan and Palestine, discussed yesterday, a number of proposals aimed at breaking the deadlock in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.

During a meeting in Cairo, the foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan, the Palestinian minister of civil affairs, and heads of the three countries’ intelligence services, held talks to coordinate positions and visions on how to follow up on results of the tripartite summit, held here in Sept, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

CAIRO (AP) — Sudanese authorities said at least 38 people were killed Tuesday when a defunct gold mine collapsed in West Kordofan province.

The country’s state-run mining company said in a statement the collapse of the closed, non-functioning mine took place in the village of Fuja 700 kilometers (435 miles) south of the capital of Khartoum. It said there were also injuries without giving a specific tally.

Local media reported that several shafts collapsed at the the Darsaya mine, and that besides the dead at least eight injured people were taken to a local hospital.

27 Dec 2021; MEMO: Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine held talks in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday to discuss the latest Palestinian developments, reports Anadolu Agency.

The talks brought together Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Jordan's Ayman Safadi and chairman of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority, Hussein Al-Sheikh, to discuss Israeli violations in the occupied East Bank and attacks by Israeli settlers.

CAIRO, Dec 26 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Russian President, Vladimir Putin, stressed yesterday, the importance of intensifying joint efforts to settle the Libyan crisis.

During a phone conversation, both presidents reviewed the current situation in Libya, where Sisi highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to bring the views of the Libyan parties closer, so that Libya can cross the current transitional phase and activate the free will of the Libyan people, in choosing their leaders and representatives, the Egyptian presidency said, in a statement.

CAIRO (AP) — Sudanese protesters marched Saturday in the capital of Khartoum and elsewhere across the country to denounce the October military coup and subsequent deal that reinstated the prime minister but sidelined the pro-democracy movement.

Hundreds took to the streets, even as authorities tightened security across the capital, deploying troops and closing all bridges over the Nile River linking Khartoum with its twin city of Omdurman and the district of Bahri, the state-run SUNA news agency reported.

CAIRO, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation has signed an investment agreement with Italian energy group Eni for oil exploration in the Gulf of Suez and Nile Delta regions, which is worth no fewer than 1 billion U.S. dollars, the Egyptian Petroleum Ministry said Friday.

The deal is part of the ministry's strategy to increase productivity and to face the natural decline in the wells by using the latest technologies in oil-producing sectors, the ministry said.

24 Dec 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian army will receive 16 IRIS-T SL medium-range air defence missile systems from the German Diehl Defence company as part of several arms deals approved by former Chancellor Angela Merkel before she left office.

On 16 December, Deutsche Welle reported that former Economy Minister Peter Altmaier had sent a letter about the deals on to Bundestag President Barbel Bas on 7 December, a day before new Chancellor Olaf Scholz was sworn in.

CAIRO (AP) — A Libyan parliamentary committee said Wednesday that it has become “impossible” to hold a long-awaited presidential election in two days as scheduled, in a major blow to international efforts to end a decade of chaos in the oil-rich country.

CAIRO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian and Libyan Ministries of Manpower announced on Monday the launch of an electronic link system to organize the entry of Egyptian workers to the Libyan labor market.

"The new system will coordinate the return of Egyptian labors to Libya to participate in the reconstruction projects of the war-torn country," Egypt's Ministry of Manpower said in a statement.

The new system will document the exact number of Egyptian workers in Libya and their workplaces to protect their rights, the statement added.
