Egypt raises train platform ticket price by 300%

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian National Railways Authority has announced raising the price of train platform tickets by 300 per cent on all lines, Al Khaleej Online reported on Friday.

The National Railways Authority confirmed that the decision, which raises the price from one to three Egyptian pounds, will take effect on Thursday.

Egypt, Bahrain Leaders Discuss Ethiopia’s Nile Dam Issue

CAIRO, Sept 17 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, met yesterday with Bahraini King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, where they discussed the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), built on the Nile River, said the Egyptian presidency.

During the talks, the Bahraini king renewed his country’s solidarity and support for Egypt and Sudan, regarding the GERD issue, said Egyptian presidential spokesman, Bassam Rady.

Egypt: Taliban kills ex-Vice President Saleh’s brother — report

CAIRO, September 10. /TASS/: The Taliban movement (outlawed in Russia) militants killed Rohullah Azizi, brother of former Vice President of Afghanistan Amrullah Saleh, Aamaj News reported Friday.

According to the report, Azizi was detained and later executed last night in the Panjshir Province of Afghanistan. No further details have been provided yet.

Israel security delegation pays secret visit to Egypt

07 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli National Security Adviser, Eyal Hulata, secretly visited Cairo and met with Egypt's Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel and other Egyptian officials, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed revealed yesterday.

According to sources, Hulata headed the Israeli delegation who met with Kamel along with the Egyptian intelligence official who is in charge of the Gaza file, Ahmed Abdul-Khaleq.

03 Sep 2021; MEMO: Sources in Egypt's Ministry of Health have said that coronavirus in the country has reached a dangerous level due to the government's neglect of precautionary measures.

The state has continued to allow parties and festivals and stopped enforcing closing times on shops, reports Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

Syria says Israeli air strikes target areas near Damascus

CAIRO, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Israel carried out air strikes on targets near Damascus early on Friday, triggering Syrian air defences but causing no casualties, Syrian state media reported, the second such attack in just over two weeks.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the report.

A Syrian military source quoted by state media said Syrian air defences shot down most of the Israeli missiles and only material damage was done in the attack launched at 1:26 a.m.
