ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (APP): The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed on Monday the combined seventh and eighth reviews of the Extended Arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) for Pakistan.

The Board’s decision allows for an immediate disbursement of SDR 894 million (about US$1.1 billion), bringing total purchases for budget support under the arrangement to about US$3.9 billion, said a press release issued by the IMF.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Nearly a half million people crowded into camps after losing their homes in widespread flooding and the climate minister warned Monday that Pakistan is on the “front line” of the world’s climate crisis after unprecedented monsoon rains wracked the country since mid-June, killing more than 1,130 people.

29 August 2022; AA: Two more Turkish planes carrying relief goods for flood victims across Pakistan departed from the capital Ankara late Sunday, according to the National Defense Ministry.

"Our country's helping hand continues to reach our Pakistani brothers who were affected by the floods. Two more Turkish Armed Forces planes carrying humanitarian aid materials departed from Ankara Etimesgut Airport," the ministry said on Twitter.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP): Chairman ASEAN Committee Islamabad (ACI) Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong on Sunday said that ASEAN is a symbol of shared Prosperity economic development for the whole world including Pakistan, which is a catalyst in global economy and trade.

The Association of SouthEast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has established excellent economic and trade relations with the whole world, which is likely to improve further in the future, The Ambassador said.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Pakistan needs financial help to deal with "overwhelming" floods, its foreign minister said on Sunday, adding that he hoped financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund would take the economic fallout into account.

Unusually heavy monsoon rains have caused devastating floods in both the north and south of the country, affecting more than 30 million people and killing more than 1,000. 

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Deaths from widespread flooding in Pakistan topped 1,000 since mid-June, officials said Sunday, as the country’s climate minister called the deadly monsoon season “a serious climate catastrophe.”

Flash flooding from the heavy rains has washed away villages and crops as soldiers and rescue workers evacuated stranded residents to the safety of relief camps and provided food to thousands of displaced Pakistanis.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (APP): Another proof of the Indian government’s nefarious propaganda to defame Pakistan has come to fore as it is presenting a mentally unsound Pakistani national as a terrorist.

Tabarak Hussain, a resident of Sabzkot village of Kotli in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and mentally unsound, was shot at and arrested in injured condition by Indian troops after he inadvertently crossed the Line of Control in Naushera area of Rajouri district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir a few days ago.

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least 45 people were killed and 113 others injured in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods and other rain-related incidents in the last 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said.

According to a report released by the NDMA Friday evening, the country's southern Sindh province was the worst-hit region with 33 killed and 98 others injured, followed by the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with 10 killed and 13 injured, while the eastern Punjab province reported two deaths.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (APP): Pakistan on Friday expressed deep concern over the gravely disturbing developments and increasing intolerance in India and reiterated its call to the international community to hold India accountable for gross and systematic violations of international humanitarian law, especially in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

ISLAMABAD, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- As many as 903 people were killed, nearly 1,300 injured and thousands left homeless as heavy monsoon rains and flash floods continued to play havoc in Pakistan since mid-June, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Wednesday.

More than 70 people died and over 82,000 houses were damaged over the past 24 hours in various rain-related incidents in parts of the country, according to the NDMA statistics.
