26.5% of Turkiye population is children

18 Apr 2023; MEMO: Turkiye's child population, which was determined as 22,578,378 at the end of last year, constituted 26.5 per cent of the country's population, a local Turkish news outlet reports.

According to the report, it is estimated that the child population ratio will be 25.6 per cent in 2030, 23.3 per cent in 2040, 20.4 per cent in 2060 and 19 per cent in 2080.

Türkiye launches first domestic observation satellite IMECE into space

15 Apr 2023; TRT: Türkiye has launched its first indigenous high-resolution Earth observation satellite IMECE into space.

The launch of IMECE took place early on Saturday at Vandenberg Space Force Base in the US state of California and was carried out by SpaceX.

Turkiye voices concern over armed clashes in Sudan

15 Apr 2023; MEMO: Turkiye on Saturday expressed concern over the armed clashes between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, Anadolu reports.

"We invite all segments in Sudan to remain committed to the achievements of the transition process, to calmness and dialogue. A lasting solution to the Sudan's problems can only be found through national reconciliation," a Foreign Ministry statement said.

Turkiye opens gas link with Bulgaria to diversify Russia gas

14 Apr 2023; MEMO: Turkiye shipped its first cargo of natural gas to neighbouring Bulgaria as part of a deal to diversify south-east Europe's supply mix away from Russia and boost Ankara's credentials as a hub for the fuel, Bloomberg reports.

According to the report, about 55 million cubic metres was sent by pipeline across the border, sourced from a shipment of liquefied natural gas delivered by US exporter, Cheniere Energy Inc.

Turkiye to continue military operations in Syria, Iraq - FM

12 Apr 2023; MEMO: Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said the Turkish army will continue its military operations against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria and the Kurdistan workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

He pointed out that the Turkish military operations target the strategic objectives of these groups.

According to the Turkish chief diplomat, the PKK now dominates Sulaymaniyah, specifically the Talabani's party in Iraq, as well as penetrates strategic points and airports.

Türkiye's Erdogan launches reelection campaign, pledging to curb rising inflation

ANKARA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched his reelection campaign on Tuesday, with pledges to slash soaring inflation to single digits and boost economic growth.

"We will reduce the inflation to single digits again, and definitely, we will save our country from this problem," Erdogan told his supporters at the election campaign ceremony in the capital of Ankara.

Turkiye plans to build 1,000 EV stations by end of 2023

11 Apr 2023; MEMO: Turkiye's first electric vehicle charging network, plans to build 1,000 stations by the end of 2023, with at least one fast-charging (DC) charging station in each of the country's 81 provinces, local media reports.

According to the report, Esarj, Turkiye's first electric vehicle charging network will direct over 90 per cent of its new investments to fast-charging stations to have at least one charging station across 81 provinces by the end of the year.

Turkiye launched world's first unmanned warship

11 Apr 2023; MEMO: The world's first unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) carrier was delivered to the Turkish navy yesterday, Anadolu reported.

The unmanned warship was built in Istanbul-based shipyard Sedef. It can carry helicopters, drones, land vehicles, light warcraft and personnel.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the ceremony held to receive th TCG Anadolu.
