Russian sanitary watchdog chief supports regions binding people to wear face masks

MOSCOW, May 1. /TASS/: Chief of Russia’s sanitary watchdog Anna Popova said on Friday that she thinks it is a right measure when Russian regions bind people to weak face masks in public places amid the coronavirus epdemic.

Earlier, Moscow region’s governor decreed that everyone must weak face masks in public places from May 12. Similar measures are already in force in some other Russian regions.

Austria: OPEC calls for full implementation of OPEC+ deal

TASS, May 2: President of the OPEC Conference and Algeria’s Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab called on OPEC and non-OPEC cointries to fully implement the oil production limiting agreement, OPEC says on its website on Saturday.

"In the face of unprecedented difficulties facing the oil market, it is of the utmost importance that all the signatory countries fully implement the voluntary production reduction agreement and that the objective is to ensure a conformity of over 100%," the Minister said.

Two men injured after gas bottle explosion at Russia’s largest floating factory

VLADIVOSTOK, May 2. /TASS/: Two individuals were injured due to the gas bottle explosion at the Russia’s largest floating factory Vsevolod Sibirtsev in Nakhodka, the Marine Rescue and Coordination Center in Vladivostok told TASS.

"The bottle explosion occurred during hot work. Two individuals were injured. One of them is in serious condition," the Center said.

Vsevolod Sibirtsev is one of two largest floating factories across the globe. The vessel is 179 meters long and has the displacement of 26,000 tonnes.

Actual number of Moscow’s coronavirus cases amounts to two percent of population - mayor

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/: The actual number of people infected with the coronavirus in Moscow amounts to about two percent of the city’s population, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Saturday.

"Judging by the health screening of various population groups, the actual number of those infected amounts to about two percent of Moscow’s population. It is the lowest level among major global cities hit by the pandemic. We succeeded in preventing the infection from spreading through discipline and Muscovites’ support for self-isolation measures," the mayor wrote on his blog.

Russia moves up to seventh place among countries with highest number of COVID-19 cases

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/: The number of coronavirus cases in Russia has risen by 9,623 to 124,054, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Saturday, adding that the virus growth rate had increased to 21.3%.

That takes Russia up to seventh place among countries with the highest number of infection cases.

A total of 15,013 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country, the death toll has reached 1,222.

According to the center, 4,488 new cases (46.6%) have no symptoms.
