Saudi Arabia Bans Lebanese Vegetables, Fruits Over Drug Smuggling

RIYADH, Apr 24 (NNN-SPA) – Saudi Arabia announced yesterday, a ban on the entry of consignments of Lebanese vegetables and fruits.

The ban effective from Apr 25 (tomorrow) also covers consignments transit through Saudi territories, the Saudi Interior Ministry, said.

The ban will continue until the relevant Lebanese authorities provide sufficient and reliable guarantees, to take the necessary measures to stop the “systematic” narcotic smuggling operations, targeting the kingdom, the statement highlighted.

Saudi bans fruit, vegetable imports from Lebanon

23 Apr 2021; MEMO: Saudi Arabia will ban fruits and vegetables originating from Lebanon from entering or passing through the kingdom due to an increase in drug smuggling, Reuters reportedSaudi state media saying today.

The measure could increase economic pressure on Lebanon, already on the verge of financial collapse because of a shortage of foreign currency.

Philippines President Hosts The International Forum For “Labour Mobility And Human Rights”

Saudi crown prince backed Israel plan to overthrow Jordan king: Report

 20 Apr 2021; MEMO: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is said to have supported an Israeli plot to overthrow the Jordanian King Abdullah II in exchange for guardianship of the holy sites in the occupied city of Jerusalem, Lebanon's Al-Akhbar newspaper reported.

The paper quoted a Jordanian security official as saying that the attempt to overthrow King Abdullah II was a "scheme" involving Israel, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

Saudi university catches fire near Yemen border in attack

JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — A Saudi university near the country’s border with Yemen caught fire early Thursday after the kingdom’s air defenses intercepted a barrage of ballistic missiles and bomb-laden drones.

The interception scattered debris on Jizan University’s campus, which caused a fire that has been contained, the Saudi-led coalition at war in Yemen said in a statement. It said no one was killed, and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Saudi Aramco sells 49% stake in pipeline venture for $12.4bn

12 Apr 2021; MEMO: Saudi oil company Aramco signed a $12.4 billion deal for the sale of a 49 per cent stake in a newly formed oil pipeline venture to a consortium led by Washington-based EIG Global Energy Partners, the UK-based energy agency Argus Media reports.

The agreement is Aramco's largest since its 2019 listing on the Tadawul (Saudi Stock Exchange) when it raised more than $29 billion.

Yemen rebels claim attack on Saudi airbase

11 Apr 2021; MEMO: Yemen's Houthi rebels on Sunday claimed two drone attacks on a Saudi airbase in southern Saudi Arabia.

Rebel spokesman Yahya Sarei said the attacks targeted King Khalid Airbase and Jazan Airport in the city of Khamis Mushait.

The spokesman said the attacks were in retaliation to the Saudi-led coalition's attacks in Yemen.

There has been no comment from the Saudi-led coalition on the Houthi claim.

Saudi Arabia executes 3 soldiers for high treason

RIYADH, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia executed on Saturday three soldiers for high treason crime, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The executed soldiers, identified as Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Yahya Akam, Shaher bin Isa bin Qasim Haqqawi, and Hamoud bin Ibrahim bin Ali Hazmi, collaborated with the enemy against the kingdom and its military interests, the SPA said, without mentioning which enemy they were aiding.

The execution took place after the three soldiers were convicted by the court and the issuance of a royal order that serves as a death warrant.
