NEW DELHI, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- There were no deaths reported in Thursday's massive landslide in India's northern hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, confirmed a senior state government official.
Several buildings collapsed in the massive landslide, and a few more buildings in the vicinity have also been declared unsafe, said Ashwini Kumar, Additional District Magistrate of Anni town, Kullu district in the state.
Himachal Pradesh has witnessed extremely heavy to heavy rains over the past several weeks. Over 80 people have died this month in rain-related incidents. Many houses, roads, bridges, and railway tracks have been partially or completely damaged.
The main roads connecting Kullu-Manali with Mandi district were greatly damaged and blocked in the landslides, with hundreds of vehicles and commuters being stranded for hours.
