Kremlin continues to analyze Mideast 'deal of the century'

Peskov

MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/: The Kremlin continues to analyze the US "deal of the century" on the Middle East settlement process after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held on January 30, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS.

"We continue to analyze [it]," he said when asked whether Putin backed the US initiative.

On Thursday, Netanyahu offered Putin during the talks in Moscow to discuss the US "deal of the century" on resolving the Middle East crisis, expressing his interest in the Russian leader’s stance on this issue.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday unveiled the key points of the so-called "deal of the century", a plan for Israel-Palestine settlement process based on mutual recognition of both states.

Netanyahu supported the initiative and said he was willing to start negotiations immediately. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the deal, while the Hamas movement stressed that the plan is "not worth the ink it was written with."
