MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. Serbian filmmaker and musician Emir Kusturica and his rock band the No Smoking Orchestra will perform at the Moscow International House of Music on Sunday, the Moscow Show concert agency’s press service of reported.
On Sunday, Russia celebrates the Unity Day, one of the youngest national holidays.
The show will mark the release of the band’s new record "Corps Diplomatique" and the 20 anniversary of Kusturica’s film "Black Cat, White Cat."
"There are two important reasons for the No Smoking Orchestra to return to Moscow. First of all, they will present their new album Corps Diplomatique - the first release in nine years. The second reason is the anniversary: Kusturica’s famous movie "Black Cat, White Cat" was released 20 years ago. So you just can't do without the adorable Bubamara soundtrack that night," the press service stressed.
The new album came out in March 2018. In August, Kusturica and his band presented their new record to the residents of city of Yalta in Crimea. The filmmaker repeatedly stressed that he was not afraid of sanctions for visiting the peninsula.
As a filmmaker Emir Kusturica has been recognized for several internationally acclaimed feature films. His best known films are Time of the Gypsies (1988), Arizona Dream (1993), Underground (1995), Black Cat, White Cat (1998), Life is a Miracle (2004), On the Milky Way (2016). Kusturica won Palm d’Or of the Cannes Film Festival twice.
As an actor, screenwriter or co-writer and director he took part in more than 30 films.
As a guitarist Kusturica joined the No Smoking Orchestra in 1986. In 1990, the band split amid the political turmoil in Yugoslavia. The recording of the soundtrack for "Black Cat, White Cat" in 1998 marked the start of a new era in the band’s history. A year later, Kusturica rejoined the band as a constant member.
