Four-metre sewage line vanished

KANPUR: About 4 metres sewer line remained extinct at the road near Huddard School and the Collectorate here. It came to light after the inspection of the sewer line for diversion of the Sisamau Nullah sewage.

Owing to the vanishing of the line the sewage was not reaching up to the Jajmau sewage treatment plant. The sewage was flowing back at the marked spot during the enhanced pressure released from Bhiarav Ghat pumping station.

The Jal Nigam officers detected the major fault following use of the closed circuit camera robot into the sewer line. It had been laid down under the JNNURM. The very disappearance of the sewer line was the main hindrance in the work.

It was earlier diverting at three respective places like Civil Lines, MG crossing and near income tax office here. The Jal Nigam general manager RK Agarwal said that the sewage was not moving forwards due to vanished 1600 mm line.

The gap filling work will be completed within two days. Now the extension in the completion of work has been sought. Even the union minister Uma Bharati had expressed her annoyance over the delay in Sisamau Nullah tapping. She stated she would prefer to perform aarti on the day when Sisamau Nullah gets tapped completely.
