RAMALLAH, May 12 (NNN-WAFA) – The Palestinian cabinet condemned Israel, for deciding to close Palestine Television office in East Jerusalem, and prevent its crew from working in the city and in Israel.
In a press statement, after the weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye, the cabinet described the Israeli move as “a flagrant violation of the freedom of speech and opinion.”
Earlier, the Palestinian Radio and Television Corporation said, Israel decided to close the Palestine Television office and prevent its crew from working in Jerusalem for six months, citing violation of the signed agreements reached between Israelis and Palestinians in 1994.
The Israeli decision was condemned by the Palestinian Ministry of Information, Fatah movement, and the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate.
They said, in separate press statements, that, the Israeli decision “is a new crime that is added to the occupier’s crimes against the Palestinian media, the Palestinian journalists, and the Palestinian people.”
