MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 weekly case tally slightly exceeded the previous week’s figures, however, the number of active cases declined for the first time since the summer, according to TASS estimates based on the anti-coronavirus crisis center’s data.
On January 11-17, the crisis center reported 166,255 new COVID-19 cases, only 0.7% more than the week before, when 165,167 cases were confirmed.
A total of 181,542 coronavirus patients recovered, which is almost 13.5% more than the previous week.
As a result, the number of people receiving medical treatment decreased by 19,016 versus last Sunday and amounted to 542,212. By the end of this week, the figure has dropped for the first time since late August.
Over the past seven days, Russia’s crisis center reported 3,729 deaths caused by the coronavirus. This figure was significantly higher than on January 4-10, when 3,331 deaths were recorded, but was on par with the figures of December 28 - January 3, when the crisis center confirmed 3,728 deaths. The death rate rose from 1.82% to 1.84%, according to the report.
