KANPUR: There is no perfect study or research on how does brain tumour grow?However, signs about its growth can be identified. The symptoms and signs of a brain tumour vary greatly and depend on the brain tumour’s size, location and rate of growth.
If there is enough body mark on the human body there remains chances of a brain tumour. Excessive use of mobile phone can cause a tumour because of its radiation emitting continuously, said Prof Jeffery Bruce, world’s renowned specialist, and president of the American Neurological Society. He was participating at Neurocon organised here.
He also said that despite several advanced treatments there remains no guarantee of patient’s complete recovery. There was no evidence of the incidence of a brain tumour owing to the pollution.
Speaking at the conference, Prof B K Ojha, Head of Neurosurgery Department, KGMU pointed out that the brain gets affected with extrapulmonary tuberculosis. At least ten per cent of patients are suffering from brain TB. As many as 15 percents of adults remain ill with brain TB cases while 85% children undergo with such sickness. Fluid accumulates in the brain in this illness.
He detailed about endoscopic vetuclasumy treatment at the talks. This effective treatment has been used at KGMU, he added.
Senior neurologist Prof. Navneet Kumar maintained patients suffering from either accident injury or brain ailment face challenges in rehabilitation and starting life post-trauma. Disability can be minimised through physiotherapy or music therapy. Further, Dr Suresh Dugani & Dr Suresh Sankhya pointed out that awareness about brain related diseases had been increased. Along with this infrastructure for surgery had also been increasing.
