MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/: On Monday, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed a peace treaty bid between Baku and Yerevan in two separate phone calls with his counterparts, Armenia’s Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijan’s Jeyhun Bayramov.
"The two diplomats discussed the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russia is ready to do its best to facilitate the process", Russia’s Foreign Ministry said regarding the call with Mirzoyan.
Commenting on a conversation with Bayramov, the ministry said that the two top diplomats touched on a range of regional and international scenarios. "The ministers discussed the implementation of the key provisions set out in the trilateral high-level agreements of November 20, 2020, January 11, 2021 as well as November 26, 2021. They also discussed concluding the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia," the statement said.
Lavrov and Bayramov also discussed Ukraine and compared notes on the further work of the South Caucasus Platform "3+3" (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia - Russia, Turkey, Iran).
"The two foreign ministers touched on the situation around Ukraine", the statement said. Russia’s foreign ministry added, Lavrov and Bayramov discussed the bilateral relations between their countries, including the implementation of the Declaration on Allied Cooperation signed in February by the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, and discussed the preparation for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to be celebrated in April.
Lavrov and Mirzoyan also had an exchange on the bilateral agenda, "including preparations for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's official visit to Russia in April" and a series of other events to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. "We note with satisfaction the high level of interaction between Moscow and Yerevan within the Eurasian integration structures - the CSTO, the EAEU, and the CIS, as well as international platforms," the statement read. The parties reaffirmed the need to launch the process of delimiting the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as soon as possible and to start project activities to unblock transportation and economic ties in the region.
