NEW DELHI, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Eight bodies were retrieved from a river in northern India on Sunday, a day after a vehicle carrying nearly 22 people fell into the river, confirmed a local official.
Fourteen of the people on board the vehicle had managed to come out of the river on Saturday after the mishap occurred in the Hardoi district of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
The vehicle fell from a bridge into the Garra river after the driver lost control of it. The victims were farmers returning home after selling their farm produce.
Teams of the state disaster relief force recovered the eight bodies after a 15-hour long search.
