Kanpur: The denizens appreciate the start of the metro project in the city areas but they also wait for good roads and clean city. Unfortunately, both of these factors appear to be overlooked by our political leaders. They looked too much interested in bringing the metro, an addition for the city commuters. However, at the same time, the people also raise voice for potholed free roads and dengue-free city.
Reacting on the bad condition of the roads in different areas, one denizen pointed out that there was an urgent need of even roads for better movement. If our roads are repaired regularly there was no need for the metro trains. Speed can be secured if the roads remain better. But such is not the case at present. While another denizen maintained that what people need at present was repaired roads for a faster run of the vehicles. Metro surely gives us speedier service in less time. If the roads are serviced they can be able to secure the same facility satisfactorily.
As regards the cleaner city a gathering of people pointed out that the civic authorities needed to be more responsible. Disposal of garbage on the roadside spots was still a big hazard for us. It not only gives us a foul smell but also ruins our good health. Careless attitude must be changed for keeping the city clean.
