Kanpur: Years old Kath Ka Pul linking Cantonment to Babu Purwa area here will now not be closed for the convenience of the public. A decision to this effect has been taken by the railways authorities.
A team of Allahabad Division inspected the aged bridge recently on the directive of the Chairman, Railway Board S Sharma. It was reportedly decided that the Kath Ka Pul will not be dismantled eventually.
What was decided is that a road with a width of ten-metre will be laid out under the bridge. The bridge exists at railway loco north colony here.
Although the Railways authorities were considering to close the Pul in view of safety reasons yet the locals have been opposing its closure or dismantling vehemently. It is learnt that they were using the bridge to go up to the Babupurwa graveyard through this bridge.
