Kanpur: Leakage in the water supply line has led people to bemoan the drinking water crisis. The latest crisis has arisen around Kakadev while earlier leakage made the people residing around the Rawatpur area suffer for the water availability.
City's different localities are facing drinking water problem as supply remains closed owing to leakage in the waterline. Not only this but the road condition has also gone worse due to digging in Kakadeo and its adjoining areas. The water supply remained blocked on Saturday.
Prior to this, a deep down leakage beyond the Rawatpur crossing has also made the barrage plant non-functional.
There will be a tough situation on Monday when the lockdown will ease during the daytime. The road users will prefer to move via RTO crossing for going towards Devaki crossing and even farther.
Affected areas are Kakadeo, Nirala Nagar, Barra, Sarvodya Nagar, Generalganj, Saket Nagar, Baconganj, Kamala Tower, Phoolbagh and others. The residents have to bear the brunt as the digging work goes on to repair the leakage.
In the meantime, Shamim Akhtar, Project Manager, Jal Nigam, said the barrage plant would remain closed up to June 16.
The population of about 10 Lakh people will face the drinking water problem from Sunday onwards as 6 Crore litres of water will not reach the barrage plant.
The dug-up road in Kakadev area has caused road closure too. A mound of clay has popped up on the road leading to a big hindrance in the movement. The Road from Rawatpur to Kakadev remains closed.
Oddly enough, ten days ago barrage plant remained closed for five days due to leakage beyond the Rathe water crossing. The road also looks worse for running the motors.
