India: Commissioner fixes deadline to finish Chakeri airport terminal work

KANPUR: Incomplete work of the Chakeri airport's new terminal building led the divisional commissioner to issue a deadline of September, this year.

Flights for Delhi and Mumbai are operative but other air carriers have also shown interest in beginning flight from here.

It is expected that as many as ten cities will be linked with the flight the following completion of the terminal work.

Apron for parking six planes is required at this airport. Install the location of the ALS system for night landing is also a requirement here.

A waiting hall for 300 passengers will also be built. Along with this, vehicle parking is also to be structured considering the capacity of the airport.

The drawback is that the steel structure of the terminal building remains unfinished so far. How could it be completed? Only the apron is said to be ready but the fire system, underground cabling, sewage treatment have yet not completed.

Another problem is the pending approval for entry of the taxi into the terminal campus lies with the defence ministry.
