India: Shortage of vaccines hits Kanpur once again

Kanpur: Shortage of the vaccine once again hits the city. Though the Health Department has informed of the problem to the state government, the vaccine has so far not reached here.

Kanpurites had to face similar problems at the end of June.

Perhaps the mega vaccination programme was postponed due to this cause from July.

As a result, the crowd at the vaccination centres has comparably increased. Queues are lengthening, the uproar is also on the rise. Discontented people are not able to understand the cause behind the delay.

Since the vaccines started getting limited, the number of vaccination centres also reduced. There began uproar at the centres owing to paucity.

As many as 39200 doses were made available in the last week. Later no supply was obtained.

According to a news report, a total of  23000 people got the vaccination on July 9. In detail, as many as 10500 people above the age of 45 years were vaccinated while 6526 youths jabbed. It was their first dose.

It was also learnt that a total of 5974 people got a second dose of the vaccine on Friday.

Meanwhile, Dr G K Mishra, ADG( Health), told that there was less stock of vaccines in the city. The state government has been informed of this paucity. It is expected that fresh doses will reach soon.
