India: Unhygienic conditions at Kanpur's Hallet Hospital enrages commissioner

Kanpur: What caused the Divisional Commissioner to visit Hallett Hospital on Friday morning was clear. He wanted to check the administrative procedures of the hospital from every aspect.

He was utterly displeased with the lack of improvement here. This poor most absorbed him into surprise because his earlier instructions were not followed a bit more.

Though his Friday's 10.50 a.m.visit was not the first one, it was certainly his another visit to study the condition exactly.

The word sanitation was totally out of the spot at the hospital's emergency block. There was insanitation all around the block. Flies were buzzing over the filthiness remaining in the dustbin.

Not only this worse scene was enough to irritate him but the patients were also found reclining on the dirty stretchers. Unbelievable yet but total negligence.

The story does not complete hers. It has some more content to narrate.

Although the junior doctors and para-medical staff were appearing in the hospital uniform yet what was neglected by them was wearing nameplates and identity cards to reveal their respective names.

In the meantime, the principal Dr Sanjay Kala approached him from the Surgery Department swiftly after getting the news of the Commissioner's arrival on the hospital campus.

Having observed the factual scene the Commissioner Dr Raj Sekhar expressed his deep annoyance at unsanitary conditions prevailing at the emergency block.

He looked angrier as nothing was improved despite his several instructions previously in this regard.

It was once again he directed the authorities concerned to bring substantial improvements into the worse conditions through the phased methods.
