13 Aug 2021; MEMO: A roadside bomb yesterday struck a convoy of trucks carrying logistics equipment belonging to the US-led coalition forces in southern Iraq, Anadolu reported.
The agency quoted a police officer as saying that the attack took place on the highway linking the provinces of Babil and Diwaniyah and caused material damage to one of the vehicles. No casualties were reported.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and there was no comment from the Iraqi authorities or the international coalition yesterday.
In recent weeks, attacks with missiles, booby-traps and explosive devices against the US embassy and coalition forces have escalated throughout Iraq.
The new attacks come despite Baghdad and Washington reaching an agreement on 26 July which will see American combat forces withdrawing from Iraq by the end of the year.
