25 Aug 2021; MEMO: Twenty-nine people have died of coronavirus in Israel over a 24-hour period, the Ministry of Health announced last night, marking the highest death rate recorded in a single day since February.
Monday's death toll brings the total deaths in Israel due to infection with coronavirus to 6,856, Israel's Kan TV channel said.
Israel has recorded 6,527 new cases of COVID- 19, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus since the beginning of the pandemic to 999,110.
Kan reported that there are 670 active coronavirus cases in hospitals including 108 who are using ventilators.
To date, 1,482,503 Israelis have received the booster shot of the anti-virus vaccine, while 5,445,567 Israelis received the second shot, the Ministry of Health said.
