07 Sep 2021; MEMO: A former Minister of Information in Jordan called on Monday for Arab countries to open their borders to Palestinian escapees from Israeli prisons, Quds Press has reported. Taher Al-Odwan made his comment in response to the news that six Palestinians have escaped from Israel's high-security Gilboa Prison.
"The hero prisoners, who extracted their freedom from the Israeli occupation, shed light on the suffering of thousands of other sinless Palestinian prisoners," tweeted Al Odwan. "These prisoners have no flaw except that they worked for the freedom of their homeland and their people from the dirtiest occupation."
The ex-official expressed his hope that the escapees will be sheltered away from the eyes, spies, and collaborators of the Israeli occupation.
Following their escape, the Israeli security sources expressed their fear that the escapees might get to Jordan, Egypt, or the Gaza Strip to protect themselves from being rearrested. They set up checkpoints on the possible routes that the six men might use to cross the border into neighbouring countries and territories.
