25 Sep 2021; MEMO: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan informed journalists on Friday that the Syrian regime of Bashar Al-Assad poses a threat to the south of Turkey, Daily Sabah reported.
Speaking about his upcoming visit to Sochi, the Russian resort city, Erdoğan stated that he will discuss the issue of Syria with Russian President Vladimir Putin: "I expect from Mr Putin, actually from Russia, different approaches as a necessity of our solidarity."
The previous day, Erdoğan confirmed that he would discuss bilateral relations and the Syrian issue with Putin, particularly the situation in Idlib, the final opposition stronghold in the country.
"We will talk to them about our stance on Syria and the role we will play in the next process," the Turkish president affirmed.
"Since we will hold the meeting without third parties, we will, of course, reach an important decision regarding Turkish-Russian relations," he added.
