22 Nov 2021; MEMO: Some 75 Jordanian MPs yesterday condemned the UK's plan to designate the Palestinian movement Hamas as a "terrorist" organisation, considering the move "aggression" against Palestinians and Arabs.
In a statement sent to Parliament Speaker Abdul Karim Al-Daghmi, the MPs said: "We, the signatories, condemn and deplore the decision of the British Home Secretary considering Hamas a terrorist organisation."
"We consider this British decision an aggression on the Palestinian people and the Arab nation."
They went on to describe the UK's decision as a "reward to the Zionist occupation which has been killing Palestinians, occupying their land and blockading Gaza."
"This decision is an extension to the Balfour Declaration," they said.
Concluding their statement, the Jordanian MPs called for the UK government to backtrack on this decision which they consider a "flagrant violation of international law."
