BEIJING, Nov 23 (APP): China on Tuesday welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan positive remarks on the Chinese businesses in Pakistan and said it would continue to support Chinese companies to make investment in Pakistan so that they could make their due contribution to the bilateral cooperation.
“We noted the positive remarks by Prime Minister Imran Khan and we appreciate the Pakistani side efforts to support Chinese companies’ development in Pakistan and value the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) construction, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Zhao Lijian said during his regular briefing held here.
In a meeting with a Chinese business delegation led by Chen Yan from Challenge Fashion (Pvt) Ltd. in Islamabad on November 20, the prime minister directed the authorities concerned to facilitate all Chinese investors who were setting up industries in Pakistan on emergency basis by resolving their issues related to road connectivity and the provision of utilities.
“We will support Chinese businesses in Pakistan on the priority basis, and are grateful to them for their keen interest in accelerating their investment in Special Economic Zones,” the prime minister added.
The spokesperson said that the CPEC was a pilot project under Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and since its inception it had vigorously promoted economic development and improvement in livelihood in Pakistan, adding, It has generated positive economic and social effects.
He said that the Chinese side would like to work with Pakistan to implement the consensus of the leadership of the two countries and focus on the cooperation in industries, agricultural, science and technology, social sectors and livelihood.
“Together, we will make sure that CPEC can promote growth and bring benefits to the two peoples and to the local people,” he added. Zhao Lijian remarked that the Chinese side would make CPEC a high quality demonstration project of the BRI.
It may be mentioned here that OPPO, one of the leading tech manufacturers in the world, will be setting up a local mobile phone manufacturing unit and a research and development center in Pakistan.
