India: Forest department failing to trace leopard's location

Kanpur: Ferocious leopard was seen twice in Nawabganj and its adjacent areas trace. It was reportedly first noticed in the thickets behind the VSSD College campus.

Its exact location at the moment remains untraced as the forest department officials are still tracking its whereabouts.

The CCTV camera that caught vision of leopard was positioned in college campus.

The forest department has put on 6 night vision cameras in the jungle area. While 4 night vision cameras were placed at Lav Kush Park around Ganga Barrage.

What remains more disturbing is the existence of educational institutions on the way. An iron cage was put behind the college campus. On the advice of the doctors the urine of male leopard was also sprinkled.

Team leader Dr Nasir thinks its movement in the jungle behind the college has been prevailing for the past several days. It has possibly entered the nullah beside the river. It has crossed the Ganges and entered into the area. Its immediate prey remained a few wild dogs. 

Meanwhile, district forest officer Arvind Yadav said that the movement of the leopard has not been visible for the past two days. The search operation would go on for three to four days .The villagers were told to remain alert.
