Poland failed to precisely clarify why Russian diplomats were expelled, ambassador reveals

Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/: Polish authorities failed to clarify what exact claims they have against the Russian diplomats that they expelled, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev said on Russian TV Thursday.

"There was no response to my question asking ‘what complaints do you have against our employees exactly?’ They simply citied alleged actions, incompatible with their status, with the Vienna Convention and so on," the diplomat said.

He added that the Polish authorities tied the expulsion of the diplomats with the special military operation in Ukraine and Russia’s alleged violation of international law.

Previously, the Polish Foreign Ministry handed the Russian ambassador a diplomatic note regarding the expulsion of 45 Russian embassy staff members. The ambassador noted that diplomatic ties between both countries have not been formally severed.
