Kanpur: Ornaments gifted to a bride almost broke up the marriage here. The incident took place at Birhar village in the Saadh police area of Ghatampur town.
Applying her mind the bride tried to test the purity of the ornaments gifted to her by the groom's family and sensed something was wrong with them.
Communicating to one of her father's friends, who happened to be a jeweller, asked him to closely test the purity of the costly items.
Carefully surveying the golden jewellery, the jeweller found that the doubts of the bride proved to be true.
Upon this disclosure, the bride threw a fit and refused to proceed with the marriage rites.
However, after a while, when the police intervened and a panchayat was held in which the groom's family promised to give her original jewellery, the bride agreed to the marriage.
