Kanpur: A heart-wrenching incident came to light in Shyam Nagar of the Chakeri police station area on Sunday evening. An elderly man with mental psychosis took his family hostage and nibbled the police for hours.
After hours of effort, the police finally overpowered him and arrested him.
Locals and family members say that the mental balance of the elderly was not good. Treatment was going on. The incident happened because of not taking medicine on Sunday, as was allegedly reported.
According to relatives, he was under mental stress due to family discord and that is why he took his family hostage and continued to fire for hours.
He is reported to be a businessman who used to invest in the stock market. Locals also said that they have had a chatter with the people of the locality in the past as well.
Once he had a fight with a neighbour for sitting on a platform, in which he opened fire.
It is also being told that on the complaint of the daughter-in-law, the knock at the house by the policemen acted as a trigger for him.
However, DCP East Pramod Kumar pacified them somehow, after which the police overpowered them.
When the DCP, who reached the spot to control him, he accused his son and daughter-in-law of torturing him
He said the police arrived on the complaint of his daughter-in-law and led to my complaint immediately. He demanded immediate suspension of the inspector who reached his house.
In such a situation, the DCP, by dint of his acumen, took his mobile number and made a fake suspension letter and sent a WhatsApp to him.
He stopped firing only after seeing that letter, after which the police took him into custody.
