MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/: Sberbank is launching SberPay NFC contactless payment service on Android smartphones in November, Kirill Tsarev, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, told reporters on the sidelines of the Finopolis forum.
"In November, Sberbank is launching SberPay NFC on Android smartphones. When Google Pay and Apple Pay services were still available to customers, SberPay had about 2 million users. Now we are convinced that this figure will increase. Mir cards will be available in SberPay, and for us, this is an opportunity to give our clients a choice of several services along with Mir Pay and Samsung Pay," he said.
In April, information emerged that the use of cards in the SberPay e-wallet was temporarily limited due to the decision of the technical partner, Sberbank. But clients can continue to use SberPay with Sberbank Mastercard, Visa and Mir cards to pay for purchases on websites and in applications. Sberbank customers can also use other contactless payment options such as "Pay QR" and "Pay at a Glance".
In the spring, Sberbank came under US and UK blocking sanctions, and later the EU also imposed sanctions against it. The restrictions involve freezing the bank's assets and prohibiting individuals and legal entities from these countries from conducting transactions with them.
Since June 14, Sberbank has been disconnected from the SWIFT international system for transferring interbank payments.
