meeting in Moscow

Tehran, IRNA – Cooperation between Iran and Russia has helped undermine the dominance of the United States in the world, according a group of Russian intellectuals, academics, Iranologists and researchers who gathered in Moscow to discuss the need to stand up against US bullying in global politics.

The meeting dubbed “New World Order and Confronting Unilateralism” was held in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Iv Ran).

Participants in the meeting exchanged views on characteristics of the new world order and the positions adopted by Iran and Russia towards various issues in global politics.

In an address to the gathering, chairman of Iv Ran said that Iran-Russia cooperation can pave the way for reducing US influence and creating a multipolar world order.

Alikber Alikberov added that that Iran has years of experiences in confronting sanctions due to its refusal to submit to the dominance of the US and the West.

Other speakers said that the growing economic and military cooperation between Iran and Russia has irritated Western governments.

Participants also stressed that Iran and Russia should use all their capacities to have a major share in the developing international order while emphasizing the need for a “strategic unity” between the two countries in the face of US threats.

Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali also addressed the gathering.

Jalali said that the West’s unilateralism is the main cause of instability and injustice in the world, especially in countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen and Palestine.

He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the use of unilateralism against independent nations is the most important threat to the international community as he insisted that Iran has been a main victim of such policy.
