India: Ready-made clothes burnt in the fierce fire at Kanpur

Kanpur: The fire broke out at about 2 am in the readymade clothes market, Bansmandi, and engulfed more than 500 shops, including AR Tower.

A fire broke out suddenly from a short circuit which later flared up and reached the shops on the upper floors.

The fire engulfed the surrounding buildings as well. Along with calling for a hydraulic fire brigade machine from Lucknow, the army has taken charge.

Seeing the leaping flames rising in the readymade market tower, the passers-by informed the police and the fire brigade. About six vehicles from Anwarganj police along with Chief Fire Officer Deepak Sharma and Latush Road Mirpur Fazalganj and Jajmau etc fire stations reached the spot.

The landlords also reached the spot and the shopkeepers could not hold back their tears after seeing the goods worth crores being burnt. The stock was brought for sale on the festival of Eid.

Firefighters were busy extinguishing the fire till late at night. Due to the strong wind, there was a lot of difficulty in extinguishing the fire.

Police Commissioner BP Jogdand also reached the spot with the force on the information of a fierce fire in the city.
