KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 12 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Natural rubber production in Malaysia decreased by 7.6 percent to 27,209 tonnes in Feb, as compared to 29,451 tonnes in Jan, 2023, official data showed today.
Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of natural rubber fell 2.7 percent from 27,950 tonnes a year ago, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
According to the DOSM, total stocks of natural rubber in Feb, declined by 1.5 percent to 191,636 tonnes, as compared to 194,563 tonnes in Jan.
Exports of Malaysia’s natural rubber amounted to 48,393 tonnes in Feb, an increase of 18.4 percent as against 40,867 tonnes in Jan.
China remained as the main destination for natural rubber exports, which accounted for 56.9 percent of total exports in Feb.– NNN-BERNAMA
This was followed by Germany (7.3 percent), Türkiye (3.6 percent), the United States (2.1 percent) and Egypt (1.5 percent).
The export performance was contributed by natural rubber-based products such as gloves, tyre, tube, rubber thread and condom.
Gloves were the main exports of rubber-based products with a value of 990 million ringgit (about 224 million U.S. dollars) in February, an increase of 5.6 percent as compared to 930 million ringgit (about 211 million dollars) in January.
