Tehran, IRNA- Ajit Doval, the national security advisor to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is scheduled to visit Tehran on Monday at the invitation of Iran’s top security official Ali Shamkhani.
During his one-day visit to Tehran, Doval will meet with Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran, and other senior Iranian officials to discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest, IRNA reported on Sunday.
The expansion of relations with India, as a major member of both the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS group of emerging economies, could help advance the Islamic Republic’s strategy of forging closer economic cooperation with member states of those organizations.
Russia and China, two of Iran’s most powerful allies in the BRICS and the SCO, have welcomed Iran’s application to join the two groups as an application to join the SCO is on the verge of being approved.
