Significant progress made to meet action plan set by FATF: Pakistan CB Governor

Islamabad, Oct 29 (PTI) Pakistan has made significant progress between May and September to meet the action plan set by the international terror financing watchdog FATF in different areas to demonstrate the effectiveness of its Anti-Money Laundering safety regime, the chief of country's central bank has said.

Pakistan was placed on the Grey List by the Paris-based watchdog in June last year and was given a plan of action to complete it by October 2019, or face the risk of being placed on the Black List with Iran and North Korea.

US Afghan peace envoy takes push for peace to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Washington’s Afghan peace envoy remained in Pakistan on Tuesday as part of efforts to find a negotiated end to Afghanistan’s 18 -year war, even though President Donald Trump hasn’t expressed any interest in resuming talks with the Taliban.

The envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad, met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday and was expected to hold talks with the country’s powerful military army chief on Tuesday.

AJK president welcomes US Congress members’ letter to Indian government

Pakistan observes black day in support of Kashmiris

Islamabad, Oct 27; GANASHAKTI: Pakistan observed black day on Sunday in support of Kashmiris, with Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirming his country's "unflinching moral, political and diplomatic support" to the people of Kashmir.

Khan said the black day being observed in Pakistan and across the world on Sunday is distinct from the past and demanded immediate lifting of the curfew and communications blackout in Kashmir.

He reaffirmed Pakistan's "unflinching moral, political and diplomatic support" to the people of Kashmir.

Pakistani PM directs establishment of special economic zones under CPEC

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed the relevant ministries to ensure establishment of special economic zones (SEZs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the prime minister's office said here in a statement.

Addressing a meeting of his financial team and other senior government officials to review progress on establishment of SEZs across the country, Khan said that the industrialization process through CPEC will help turn the wheels of economy by creating jobs and wealth in the country.

Dr Firdous asks Indian army chief to apologise for lies, false claims

ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 (APP): Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Wednesday said Indian army chief should apologise to the whole world as his false claims and lies were exposed.

In a tweet on social media platform Twitter, she said the truth of Pakistan had buried the lies of India.

The whole world saw that the claim of Indian army chief was a big lie, she added.
She said the visit of ambassadors and media on the Pakistani side of Line of Control exposed the real face of India before the world.

Pakistan,Turkey to identify areas for enhancing cooperation in energy sector

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (APP): Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul here on Tuesday called on Federal Minister for Power and Petroleum, Omar Ayub Khan.

During the meeting, matters relating to bilateral cooperation between the two countries especially in the energy sector were discussed, said a press release issue here .

It was agreed that special areas would identified by both the countries for the upcoming visit of Turkish President for further enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.
