India: People run from pillar to post to get insurance claim

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) The Delhi state consumer commission has observed that claimants are made to run from pillar to post to get medical reimbursement from insurance companies and it would be "extremely tenuous" to expect a layman to read each and every clause of an insurance document before signing it.

On most occasions, a person who intends to obtain insurance has no choice to say no to a clause in an insurance policy, the commission said.

India signals to boycott China's B&R Forum 2nd time

Beijing, Mar 20 (PTI) India on Wednesday signalled that it will boycott China's second Belt and Road Forum for a second time, saying no country can participate in an initiative that ignores its core concerns on sovereignty and territorial integrity.

India boycotted the first Belt and Road Forum (BRF) in 2017 after protesting to Beijing over the controversial China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which is being laid through the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) overriding New Delhi's sovereignty concerns.

India's PM is a joke: Rahul

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of jobs, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that his policies destroyed one crore jobs last year and said "India's PM is a joke".

Gandhi's criticism of Modi came over a media report which claimed that the actual size of India's male workforce, or men who are working, has shrunk for the first time since 1993-94.

Aseemanand: many aliases, one saffron identity

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) Two years, three acquittals and Aseemanand, the self-confessed monk with many aliases and one saffron identity, is now a free man after a special court in Panchkula on Wednesday let him off in the 2007 Samjhauta train bombing case.

Wearing multiple identities of religious preacher, science student and terror accused, the saffron robed Aseemanand, once known as the most wanted man in India, was the alleged link between the series of three bombings that ripped through India in 2007.

India: Bada Modi snoozed, Chhota Modi escaped

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) On a day fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi was arrested in London, the Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of snoozing when he escaped from the country.

In a tweet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said Nirav Modi, who he referred to as "Chhota Modi", was arrested after the Opposition party questioned "Bada Modi", a term he has been using to target the PM.

India: BJP hails Samjhauta Express blast verdict as historic

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) The BJP Wednesday described as "historic" the acquittal of Samjhauta Express blast accused, saying it is an indication of how the previous Congress-led government played politics with terror.

Twelve years after a blast on Samjhauta Express killed 68 people, mostly Pakistanis, a special court Wednesday acquitted Swami Aseemanand and three others in the case.

Indian Polls: Notification issued for phase 2 of LS polls

New Delhi, Mar 19 :  The Election Commission Tuesday issued a notification kick starting the poll process in 97 constituencies spread across 13 states where phase two of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 18.

The process of nomination began with the issuance of this notification and will continue till March 26.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on March 27 and the last day of withdrawing nomination is March 29.

By the evening of March 29, a clear picture on the number of candidates in each of the 97 constituencies will emerge.

No metro services in Delhi & Lucknow till 2.30 pm on Holi

New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) Metro services will not be available till 2.30 pm on Thursday due to Holi, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said on Tuesday.

In addition, Metro feeder bus services will also not be available till 2pm and will run as per schedule thereafter, it said.

On the day of the 'Holi' festival (March 21), Metro services will start from 2.30 pm on all lines of Delhi Metro including Airport Express Line, the DMRC statement said.

India: Robbers flee with entire ATM machine

New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) Robbers fled with an entire ATM machine which contained around Rs 30 lakh near the Nawada metro station in Dwarka, police said on Tuesday.

Police said the incident took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The robbers covered the CCTV cameras with grease.

The manger of the Corporation Bank filed a complaint on Tuesday in which he said the bank operates from 9 am to 9 pm and after which, the security guard on duty pulls the shutters down on both- the bank and the ATM.
