NEW DELHI, Oct 31 (NNN-PTI) – Delhi’s air quality remained in the “Very Poor” category, for the third consecutive day yesterday, as the national capital’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 322 over the past three days.
Several areas in the city recorded even worse AQI of over 350, which is dubbed as hazardous for human life.
On Sunday, Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area recorded its highest AQI of 566 for the season.
Delhi’s overall AQI on Sunday was recorded at 325, compared to 304 on Saturday, showed data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Delhi and its nearby areas, known as National Capital Region (NCR), suffered high air-pollution levels over the past few days. Noida, which is part of the NCR, posted a record AQI at 688 at 08:00 local time on Sunday.
An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “Good,” 51 to 100 “Satisfactory,” 101 to 200 “Moderate,” 201 to 300 “Poor,” 301 to 400 “Very Poor,” and 401 to 500 “Severe.”
Vehicular pollution, construction activities and stubble burning by farmers in and around Delhi, are some of the major causes of air pollution in the city. Air pollution normally rises here during the months from Oct to Feb.
