TEHRAN, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has urged for implementation of the 2015 landmark nuclear deal which, he said, stipulated Iranian rights of oil exports and free banking ties with the world, official IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday.
"Restoration of Iran's banking ties with the world and regular flow of its oil trade with the global countries are the basic demands of Iran under the nuclear agreement," Rouhani said in a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday night.
With reference to Iran's curtail of parts of its JCPOA commitments, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Rouhani said that Iran has cut its commitments to make other parties to the deal honor Iran's economic interests enshrined by the accord.
In the meantime, Iran welcomes any proposal which could be instrumental for a solution to current issues pertaining to the JCPOA.
Any new proposal should observe Iran's banking ties and ease of oil exports as its "most fundamental" components, he added.
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran's minimum demand for oil sales under the 2015 nuclear deal is 2.8 million barrels per day (bpd).
Following U.S. President Donald Trump's pullout from the JCPOA in May 2018 and re-imposition of sanctions, Iran's oil exports have seen a sharp decline.
Tehran has complained about the EU's "impracticality" in dealing with U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA.
