TEHRAN, Dec 30 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s capital, Tehran, will host a conference next month, on its peace initiative for the Strait of Hormuz.
The conference is scheduled for Jan 7-8, and will focus on regional cooperation plans, particularly on Iran’s initiative of Hormuz Peace Endeavour.
Senior Iranian and regional political officials and pundits, are expected to attend the event, organised by the Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies.
Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, will address the opening ceremony of the conference.
In addition to the Hormuz peace plan, participants will review the latest developments in the Gulf.
In Nov, Iran said, it had forwarded the text of the peace plan for the Strait of Hormuz to regional states.
Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, disclosed the initiative at the meeting of the 74th UN General Assembly. Rouhani said, Iran’s Hormuz peace initiative aimed at establishing durable peace in the region.
Iran insists that extra-regional powers cannot bring peace to the region, which could be established through regional states’ cooperation.
