Asansol; 18 June 2020 (UMMN): BJP workers and the local leaders organised a protest march and burning of North Korea’s president Kim Jong Un's Effigy for Chinese invasion of Galwan Valley. A video showing media interview with the party leader has gone viral on social media.
The BJP workers; confused Kim Jong Un with China’s President Xi Jinping. Angry with China’s invasion of Galwan Valley and killing of 20 Indian security personnel, the BJP workers hit the streets to make their fury known. They burnt effigies of Kim Jong Un and yelled 'Boycott China'.
In the video, a group of men sporting BJP facemasks can be seen protesting. When asked, they respond saying that they are out to burn Kim Jong Un's effigy. Take a look here:
According to News18, the standoff has stirred anti-China sentiments in India, with protesters and some trade bodies like CAIT calling for a boycott of Chinese products in protest to border standoff. Hashtags like #BoycottChina, #BoycottMadeinChina and #BoycottChineseProducts have been trending on social media.
