12 June 2023; MEMO: The United States has sent military reinforcements to its bases in Syria's northeastern Al-Hasakah province, Anadolu news agency reported citing local sources yesterday.
A military convoy of 40 vehicles arrived in the province after crossing into Syria through Al-Waleed border terminal with Iraq on Sunday, the sources said.
The military reinforcements included armoured vehicles, fuel tankers and ammunition to US bases and military posts in the towns of Rmelan, TalBeydar and Ash-Shaddadi in Al-Hasakah province, the sources said.
A few days ago, media sources revealed that the United States had deployed a HIMARS missile system near the oil fields in the Deir Ez-Zor province, eastern Syria.
According to the sources, the system "was sent to the American base in the Al-Omar oil field and its base in the Konkou natural gas field" in order to "counter potential attacks and shelling by pro-Iran groups on the opposite bank of the Euphrates River."
About 900 American soldiers are deployed within the coalition forces in the areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and they are located in several bases in the governorates of Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir Ez-Zor.
