Kurukshetra, Jun 12 (PTI) A large number of farmers gathered at Pipli in this district on Monday to attend a mahapanchayat being held to press for minimum support price for sunflower seed and other demands.

Apart from leaders of various khaps and Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait, Olympic medal-winning wrestler Bajrang Punia, one of the grapplers who have been demanding action against outgoing Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, were present at the mahapanchayat.

Chandigarh, Apr 5 (PTI) A young woman from Haryana's Rohtak who had gone to Canada last year to pursue higher studies was allegedly murdered and buried in a field in Sonipat by her lover in June 2022 when she came to meet him, police said Wednesday.

The Crime Investigation Agency of Bhiwani, which is investigating the case, found her skeletal remains on Tuesday along the Garhi Jhanjhara road in Ganaur. The accused, who allegedly shot the women dead, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh on April 2.

Gurugram, Oct 6 (PTI) The police here have booked a man for allegedly raping a 52-year-old woman repeatedly for more than a year, officials said on Thursday.

New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) Crop diversification is not a long-term solution to the problem of stubble burning and it will take four to five years to properly resolve the issue, a senior official of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has said.

Crop diversification and using short duration varieties of paddy are among several initiatives proposed by the Centre and experts to resolve the stubble burning issue in Punjab and Haryana.

Gurugram, Sep 11 (PTI) Police on Sunday said they have rescued two girls who were "kidnapped" from Bhondsi area here and arrested three people, including the mother of one of the girls.

The arrested are identified as Rinki Tiwari (35) and her associates Sagar and Vikas alias Suraj.

Gurugram, Jun 30 (PTI) With the arrest of nine people, including five women, the Gurugram cyber crime police on Thursday claimed to have busted a fake call centre that was being run from a rented building in DLF phase-2.

A laptop and nine CPUs were seized from the possession of the accused.

The fake call centre was allegedly cheating foreign nationals, police said, adding that an FIR has been registered at the Cyber Crime police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act.

Gurugram, Jun 30 (PTI) Two people posing as policemen robbed an Iraqi national of over Rs 18 lakh cash and gold jewellery here on Thursday, officials said.

Ahmed Abdulateef Mohammed was returning from a mall to his guest house when the incident took place near Artemis Hospital, they said.

Chandigarh, May 23 (PTI) Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh on Monday announced to conduct polls to 46 municipal bodies in the state on June 19.

Counting of votes will take place on June 22, Singh said here.

Singh said the nomination process will commence from May 30 and the last date for filling of nominations will be June 4.

The scrutiny of nominations will be done on June 6 while the last date for the withdrawal of candidature will be June 7.

The polling will be held on June 19 from 7 am till 6 pm, he said.

Gurugram, May 3 (PTI) A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped and stabbed by two men in the DLF Phase 3 area here, police said on Tuesday, adding one of the accused was arrested.
