Yet those traditional Nielsen company yardsticks don’t begin to measure the true reach of what is being said there.

Memorable moments from each hearing are sliced for quick consumption on countless news programs, comedy shows and online, to the point where some have been seen more times later than when they were live.

India blocks UN listing of Indian national responsible for terrorist attacks against Pakistan: Sources

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 19 (APP): In a blatant misuse of Its UN Security Council’s membership, India has blocked a proposal to proscribe an Indian national, Gobinda Patnaik Duggivalasa, by a 15-member body’s panel, known as the 1267 Sanctions Committee, according to the informed sources.

The Committee procedures require consent of all Council members to accept a listing request.

US opens COVID vaccine to little kids; shots begin this week

NEW YORK (AP) — The U.S. on Saturday opened COVID-19 vaccines to infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

The shots will become available this week, expanding the nation’s vaccination campaign to children as young as 6 months.

Advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the vaccines for the littlest children, and the final signoff came hours later from Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the agency’s director.

Pakistan calls for criminalizing hate speech’s manifestations like Islamophobia

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 18 (APP): Voicing serious concern over growing hate speech worldwide, Pakistan has called for a collective effort to counter its manifestation such as Islamophobia, racism, xenophobia and incitement to violence.

“Hate is a threat to everyone; Combating it must be a collective effort,” Ambassador Aamir Khan, deputy permanent representatives of Pakistan to the UN, said in a remarks at an event organized by Morocco in connection with the first-ever International Day for Countering Hate Speech.

Russia to adjust draft security guarantees after completing operation in Ukraine –diplomat

NEW YORK, June 18. /TASS/: Russian draft agreements on security guarantees will be reviewed when the special military operation in Ukraine is completed, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov wrote in his article for Newsweek.

"Let me remind you that no one has removed the Russian draft agreements on security guarantees from the table. Of course, after the special military operation will be over, their content will have to be adapted to the realities," the diplomat wrote.

UN condemns conviction of Gaza aid worker by Israel

The conviction of Mohammed El-Halabi, the former Program Director of World Vision's Gaza office, was "a clear violation of Israel's obligation" to respect the right to a fair trial, the UN experts said in a statement.

Nearly 37 million children displaced worldwide, highest since World War II: UNICEF

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 17 (APP): Conflict, violence and other crises left a record 36.5 million children displaced from their homes by the end of last year, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates – the highest number recorded since the Second World War, the agency said on Friday.

This figure includes 13.7 million child refugees and asylum-seekers, and nearly 22.8 million, who are internally displaced due to conflict and violence.

Migrants sent $605 bn home in 2021, more by mobiles: UN

UNITED NATIONS, June 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Migrant workers sent home an estimated $605 billion to low- and middle-income countries last year, a UN study said, boosted by an increase in payments sent via mobile phones.

Global remittances rose 8.6 percent compared to 2020 and are projected to grow to $630 billion in 2022, according to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Such payments are a major source of income for many low-income households, with around 800 million family members expected to benefit in 2022.

23rd Aid Worker Killed In NW Syria Since 2020 Saddens UN

UNITED NATIONS, Jun 16 (NNN-SANA) – The slaying of a humanitarian worker in north-west Syria yesterday, the 23rd since 2020, saddened the United Nations, said Stephane Dujarric, chief spokesman for UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.

Dujarric told a regular briefing that, the Syrian aid worker was killed by a car bomb, on his way to work, in al Bab, in northern Aleppo.

“This tragedy is a stark reminder of the continuing hostilities in Syria, which are claiming the lives of civilians and aid workers,” said the spokesman.
