NEW DELHI, March 10 (Xinhua) -- India's election commission has directed political parties to advise their candidates and leaders to desist from displaying photographs of defence personnel in advertisements as part of their election campaign.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) in an advisory to presidents of all political parties in country has sought their strict compliance.

New Delhi, Mar 9 (PTI) Saudi State Minister for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir will visit India on Monday, days after his trip to Islamabad.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said Jubeir will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during his trip.

The Saudi minister met Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday in Islamabad, and delivered a "special message" from Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, according to Pakistani media reports.

New Delhi; 8March 2019; GANASHAKTI: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday said that it continues to remain in a high state of preparedness, after Pakistan chose not to open the airspace over the Indo-Pak border region. The IAF said it will proactively engage any perceived threat in the highly volatile existing security scenario.

The Air Force further said it is maintaining a strict vigil in the skies to detect and thwart any act of aggression from the Pakistan Air Force.

"What is worse? Not creating jobs or lying about creation of jobs?" Chidambaram asked in a tweet, alleging that the National Democratic Alliance government was guilty of both. "The top three issues in the elections will be jobs, jobs and jobs."

New Delhi, March 8 (PTI) The Delhi Cabinet Friday approved recommendations of a fare revision committee to hike auto-rickshaw tariffs by Rs 1.50 per kilometre.

The meter-down charge of Rs 25 per two kilometre has also been revised by the committee to Rs 25 for 1.5 kilometre, said Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot.

The revised charges will be implemented after the Transport Department's notification, Gahlot said.

08 Mar 2019; AFP: India has signed a $3 billion deal to lease a third Russian nuclear-powered submarine for 10 years, giving Delhi a boost in the Indian Ocean against arch-rivals Pakistan and China, media reports said.

The deal -- which according to the reports took months to negotiate -- comes as tensions run high between India and Pakistan following their biggest standoff in years, and as Chinese influence grows in the region.

New Delhi, Mar 7; PTI?GANASHAKTI: The Editors Guild of India on Thursday “unequivocally” condemned Attorney General's remarks before the Supreme Court pertaining to the documents based on which the media had reported on the Rafale deal, saying any attempt to use the Official Secrets Act against the media is as "reprehensible" as asking journalists to disclose their sources.

The Guild, in a statement, also denounced “threats” against the media in the matter and urged the government to refrain from initiating any action that might undermine the media's freedom and independence.
