Hanoi, Jul 30 (AP/PTI) Vietnam imposed more coronavirus restrictions Thursday as an outbreak that started in a popular beach resort destination grew with nine new cases.

Eight of the new infections were detected in the virus hot spot of Da Nang and another was confirmed in the capital Hanoi in a man who had returned from the coastal city, the health ministry said.

Japan unhappy after WTO panel set up to rule on curbs of exports to South Korea

TOKYO/SEOUL (Reuters) - Japan said on Thursday it was disappointed South Korea was proceeding with a complaint to the World Trade Organization, a day after the body set up a panel to rule on curbs imposed by Tokyo on exports of some key technology materials to its neighbour.

“We think it is extremely regrettable that South Korea has not honoured our agreement to resolve the matter through dialogue and communication,” Mitsuhiro Fukuyama, director of the International Legal Affairs Office at Japan’s trade ministry, said.

Saudi Arabia may cut September crude oil prices to Asia: survey

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Top oil exporter Saudi Arabia may cut its September official selling price (OSP) for crude sold in Asia, tracking falling Middle East benchmarks and weak refining margins, according to industry sources.

Five sources from Asian refineries on average expect the September OSP for flagship Arab Light crude to fall by 61 cents a barrel, though forecasts range from a cut of $1 to 20-30 cents, a Reuters survey showed.

4 arrested under new Hong Kong security law for online posts

HONG KONG (AP) — Hong Kong police have signaled their intent to enforce a new Chinese national security law strictly, arresting four youths Wednesday on suspicion of inciting secession through social media posts.

Three males and one female, aged 16 to 21, were detained, a police official said at an 11 p.m. news conference. All are believed to be students.

The outbreak has spread from Da Nang in central Vietnam to 5 other cities and provinces with 43 cases since the weekend, and Vietnam is intensifying protective measures across the country.

Asian stocks gain after Fed keep US interest rates low

BEIJING (AP) — Asian stocks advanced Thursday after the U.S. Federal Reserve left interest rates near zero to support a struggling economy.

Benchmarks in Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul all gained.

Lower interest rates and investor optimism about a possible coronavirus vaccine have helped global markets recover most of this year’s losses. But analysts say the recovery might be too early to be supported by uncertain economic activity as infection numbers rise in the United States, Brazil and other countries.

BEIJING, July 29 (APP): The Chinese Embassy in India has urged the Indian government to correct wrongdoings of banning apps with Chinese background. In response to media query on the restriction on WeChat of sending and receiving messages in India, Ji Rong, counselor and spokesperson of the embassy, said the Chinese side has lodged solemn representation to the Indian side and asked the Indian side to correct its wrongdoings, according to China Global Television Network (CGTN) here on Wednesday.
