India: Poor patient denied even stretcher at LLR Hospital

Kanpur: The poor patients are generally indicted if they demand of any free facility at the government hospitals. Such case has come to light at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital here. Only a stretcher was demanded from a hapless father but he faced harsh reality of inuman behaviour by the hospital staff.

Plainly it was a sort of unkind cruelty. The staff reacted so badly as the father carried his ailing son on his weak shoulder to the radio-diagonastic department for the x-ray. The matron clearly said to the father the stretcher would be made available only after depositing the mobile. In such an inhuman treatment the agonized father had to carry his son on his feeble shoulder to the OPD on Monday.

26-year-old Vicky' father Surendra Singh, a tailor by profession took his son for the treatment at the department of the LLR Hospital. Dr (Prof) GK Senger after check up recommended x-ray test. He beseeched the OPD paramedical & nursing staff for the availability of the stretcher to take the patient in the next building but they did not listen him.

When Dr (Prof) RK Mauraya was approached for his take on the matter, he talked of receiving no complaint in this regard. Action will be taken after receiving the  complaint, he added.
