CPI(M) accuses RSS, BJP of attacking Dalits, creating Urban Naxal theories to hide Dalit anger

New Delhi, Sep 2; GANASHAKTI :  Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS of increasing violence against Scheduled Caste persons, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Sunday said their 'main agenda is to implement Manuwadi rule'.

"The main agenda of the BJP and RSS is to implement Manuwadi rule where Dalits are treated as sub-humans", the CPI(M) said in a tweet.

Quoting media reports that violence against Scheduled Caste persons are increasing in Gujarat, the CPI(M) said that they are creating conspiracy theories about Urban Naxals to hide the Dalit anger against this. "It is to hide the Dalit anger against this (Manuwadi rule) agenda that they need to create conspiracy theories about Urban Naxals inciting Dalits", the Left party tweeted.

According to a report, quoted by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale, during his visit to Gujarat on Friday, the state witnessed a 50 percent increase in the number of cases of violence against Dalits, including murder, grievously hurt, rape and arson.

"The number of cases registered with the police about atrocities on Scheduled Castes under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989, shows that over 9,000 cases have been registered in Gujarat during the last eight years", the report said.

While the number of cases registered in 2010 was 1,006, by the end of 2017, the number reached 1551 with an increase of 50 percent and end of June 2018, an additional 795 cases were registered in Gujarat.
