Palestinian President Says U.S. Fails To Respect International Law

Mahmoud Abbas

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Sept 10 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said that, the United States did not respect international law, when it moved its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Abbas said in a speech, “We always expect the U.S. … to respect the international law.”

“But we discovered that it (the U.S.) has its own laws and legislations, and therefore, it believes that when it orders, the orders will be respected, and then it moved its embassy to Jerusalem,” he added.

“Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem was contrary to what had been agreed upon with former U.S. administrations,” Abbas said, adding that, “the U.S. hasn’t respected the decisions it had signed and backed.”

The Palestinian Authority severed its political ties with the United States since the U.S. administration recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in late 2017, and moved its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem last May.
